Guardianship Access New York (GANY) is a coalition of nonprofit guardianship providers and elder and disability justice advocates from across New York State.
We came together in 2022 around the simple belief that every person who needs a guardian should be able to get a high-quality provider for as long as necessary, regardless of their ability to pay.
GANY works to improve the guardianship system by ensuring equal access to services statewide. We elevate the voices of clients and community members, identify gaps in the current system, and advocate for the state investment the sector needs to meet the moment.
Our Solution
GANY's central advocacy priority is securing full funding for the Statewide Initiative of Nonprofit Guardians (SING) — a network of mission-driven nonprofit guardians already serving New Yorkers who have no family or friends to support them and no means to pay for a private-practicing guardian.
SING is a proven model: it's generated over $10 million in net public savings so far, delivering more than six dollars in return for every dollar the state has invested. A full $15 million annual investment would extend that impact statewide.
