Alison Wininger

Staff Attorney

Alison joined Project Guardianship as a Staff Attorney in July 2024. Prior to Project Guardianship, she worked as a criminal defense lawyer in London, in the Civil Action Project at The Bronx Defenders, and as the Compliance Attorney at a supportive housing nonprofit in Harlem, before taking a career break to raise her two young daughters.

Alison has a deep commitment to social justice work and many years of experience working with individuals living with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and housing instability. She strongly believes in the importance of preserving dignity and self-determination in spaces where these values can easily be compromised.

Alison received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, where she was a Stein Public Interest Law Scholar, and a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Spanish Language and Literature from Muhlenberg College. She enjoys crafting with her daughters, vegetarian cooking, and anything active and outdoors.
