Senior Staff Attorney
Melissa (Mel) Alexander joined Project Guardianship in August 2023. Her legal career includes the areas of Article 81 guardianship, landlord and tenant law, and real estate.
Mel's prior legal experience includes working as a Staff Attorney at Selfhelp Community Services, where she worked with the guardianship program to provide comprehensive legal services to individuals appointed with an Article 81 Guardian. She also previously worked at New York Legal Assistance Group, where she represented tenants in housing court.
Mel is a graduate of CUNY School of Law. She holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Literary Studies from Eugene Lang College, The New School for Liberal Arts, and a M.A.T. in Teaching English Language Arts from CUNY Queens College. She is licensed in New York and New Jersey.
