Joan Malin has held leadership positions in nonprofit and government sectors. She served as the Interim Director of Project Guardianship in 2017, when she was newly retired as CEO of Planned Parenthood of New York City (PPNYC), where she served for 17 years. Prior to PPNYC, Joan Malin was CEO of the Bowery Resident’s Committee, providing multiple social service and housing programs for homeless adults. Joan Malin’s government service includes positions as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Homeless Services and overseeing supported housing development, home care, protective services for adults and senior centers. 

Joan holds a Bachelor’s in urban studies from Case Western Reserve University and a Master’s of city planning from the University of Pennsylvania. Joan Malin has served on the board of Brooklyn Community Services, Youth Services Opportunities Project and the Mary McDowell Center for Learning. She has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service of New York University.
