Manager of Development
Alida Clemans joined the staff of Project Guardianship in May 2024 as the Manager of Development. She has extensive experience in the non-profit world, having worked in development for five independent schools and several social-welfare organizations, including those that supported formerly incarcerated adults, early childhood programs, and young adults emerging from foster care. Most recently, Alida served as the Advancement and Communications Writer for The Chapin School, a K-12 girls’ school in Manhattan, where she wrote everything from feature articles and capital campaign case statements to grant proposals, stewardship reports, and fundraising appeals.
Earlier in her career, Alida edited publications for the CUNY Graduate Center, was a reporter for the Albany Times-Union newspaper, and volunteered with the organization Women In Need (WIN). She holds a B.A. in English and journalism from SUNY Albany and recently earned an M.F.A. in creative writing from St. Francis College in Brooklyn. When she's not working on her fourth novel for children, Alida loves to cook, read, walk her dog, Spencer, and spend time with her family.
