Deputy Director of Legal Services
Melissa Steinberg joined Project Guardianship as the Deputy Director of Legal Services in April 2023. She began her career as general counsel to a Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee in the Southern District of New York. As a solo practitioner for nearly 11 years, Melissa gained substantial expertise in Article 81 guardianships, including as a guardian, guardian ad litem, court evaluator, attorney for alleged incapacitated persons, and special needs trustee.
Melissa holds a Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and German, with a minor in French, from Bowdoin College. She is admitted to practice in the courts of the State of New York, as well as the federal courts in the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. In her spare time, she likes to learn languages and practice krav maga.
