People and Culture Manager
Nathaniel Coburn joined Project Guardianship as a People and Culture Manager in September of 2023.
Nathaniel is a certified human resources practitioner with a SHRM-CP certification. Prior to joining PG, he spent 9 years working for NY Sun Works, a STEM education nonprofit where he held various administrative roles. After completing his graduate work at NYU, Nathaniel worked as a grant writer and contributing reporter for Heritage Radio Network, a nonprofit Brooklyn-based internet radio station that covers food issues.
Formerly a line cook, baker, and chef, Nathaniel sought to merge his passions for food and social change at New York University’s Food Studies program, where his studies primarily focused on food justice and scalable local distribution systems. Prior to his graduate studies, Nathaniel cooked in numerous restaurants, food trucks, bakeries, and supper clubs in South Carolina, New York, and San Francisco. Having moved away from the food space, Nathaniel carries the lessons learned in the hospitality industry to inform his approach to team building, employee relations, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Nathaniel is a staunch advocate for the well-being and rights of all workers to determine their futures.
