Summer Legal Interns Join Project Guardianship
By admin
Project Guardianship is delighted to welcome four talented law students to our legal team for the summer. The interns, all rising second-year law students, represent New York Law School, St. John's University School of Law, and Brooklyn Law School. During the coming months, they will work alongside our attorneys and staff, gaining firsthand experience in guardianship law while contributing to our mission of protecting and advocating for older adults and people with disabilities.
Project Guardianship's summer legal internship program is designed to provide students with meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that extend well beyond the classroom. Throughout the internship, students observe court proceedings, assist with legal research and writing, and participate in case preparation and client advocacy. By working directly with experienced attorneys and interdisciplinary professionals, they gain valuable insight into the legal, ethical, and practical considerations involved in guardianship practice.
In addition to developing legal skills, interns learn about the critical role that high-quality guardianship services play in safeguarding the rights, well-being, and dignity of individuals who are unable to make certain decisions independently. The program offers a unique opportunity to see how compassionate legal advocacy can improve the lives of vulnerable New Yorkers while reinforcing the importance of person-centered decision-making.
The internship also enables students to earn academic credit while exploring a specialized area of public interest law. Many participants leave with a deeper understanding of the intersection of law, social services, healthcare, and the courts, as well as the challenges and rewards of serving individuals with complex needs.
We are excited to welcome this outstanding group of future attorneys and look forward to supporting their professional growth throughout the summer. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and commitment to public service make them a wonderful addition to our team, and we are grateful for the contributions they will make to Project Guardianship and the people we serve.
