Helpline Fact Sheets

The Guardianship Prevention & Support Helpline is offered by Project Guardianship as a free, confidential resource for New Yorkers navigating Article 81 guardianship and its alternatives. Whether you’re a family member, caregiver, or professional, the helpline provides information to help you understand the intricacies of guardianship and the court system. We also focus on exploring less restrictive alternatives like community support services and powers of attorney as well as addressing issues with existing guardians. Please note the helpline does not provide legal representation or assistance filling out guardianship forms.

Below, you’ll find a series of downloadable fact sheets organized by subject matter area.  Each resource provides information on the topic and helps with evaluating whether guardianship is necessary or the best course of action.
